WANTED: INFORMATION about the Hewitt Monument….

I’m trying to locate anyone in the Hewitt-Matheny-Cooper families that may know anything about the “Henry Hewitt” donation land claim monument that is along Wallace Road, north of Maud Williamson Park and north of Grand Island Junction. I know there is a “time capsule” buried in the bottom of it that was put there by my family, Clark, Harlan & John Noble, when it was erected, probably sometime around 1935. I also know that Edgar Thornton Sr. was there and helped erect it. My question is, how was this funded? Did the “association” have anything to do with it? If anyone can answer some questions, feel free to e-mail or call me. Thank you.
