Elma more than generously gave of her time, talent, and leadership to the Hewitt, Matheny, Cooper Family, serving as president, producing and selling the family books, writing and mailing the newsletter, hauling the family albums from the Yamhill County Museum to the Reunion every year, and keeping the Association going in so many ways.

We are hoping family will please add details of Elma’s life and her contributions to our Family.

Forest Grove Hall of Fame: Four athletes, one coach, one committee make up Class of 2014

Four standout athletes and one longtime coach are joining the Forest Grove High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

The Vikings’ selection committee announced late last month that former softball stars DeeAnn “Peewee” Hetzel Henderson (Class of 1986) and Teena Shull Nelson (1987), state swimming champion Robb Bauer (1980) and state high jump champion David Schiffer (1988) will be enshrined this fall. They’ll be joined by Elma Hewitt, a teacher and coach from 1961-87 who helped advance girls sports in Forest Grove.
