FROM MERRILEE JOHNSON

The baseball games were held after eating and in my memory only the men played. It was near the parking lot in a field set apart by a surrounding of brush. In the picture in the middle holding a mitt is my father, Arnold Johnson.

In the 1923 Reunion minutes it states that it rained so the gathering was held in the Evangelical Church with only about sixty attending, but hymns were sung and baseball was played.

You can read the stories in “HMC Family Memories” to the right.

REUNION MEMORIES: Family Reunion, by Merrilee Johnson (9-17-11)

Playing baseball at the 1967 Reunion.

At a reunion when I was much younger (about 7 or 8) someone was beating on a tree stump with a stick and apparently disrupted a nest of bees — wasps or yellow jackets.  They attacked some kids, and I remember Laura Denton getting the worst of it!

Made that reunion a lot more memorable in my impressionable mind.

I also remember playing baseball in a nearby field after eating.  That was where the guys went to avoid the meeting!
